From 28 September 2007, Etihad Airways will begin three times weekly Abu Dhabi-Singapore-Brisbane services.
Etihad Airways will operate a new two-cabin Airbus A330-200 aircraft for the service, configured to carry 262 passengers, with 22 in business class (pearl zone) and 240 in economy (coral zone). The airline will operate from Terminal 2 at Changi Airport. With Etihad Airways’ entry into the family of airlines at Changi, weekly frequency on the Abu Dhabi-Singapore sector will double to 6 (the other 3 services are operated by Singapore Airlines). For the Singapore-Brisbane sector, weekly frequency will increase by 10% to 31, with Emirates, Qantas Airways and Singapore Airlines operating the other services. James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said, “Our customers will be able to travel between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi, with a one hour stop in Singapore. The launch of the new route will offer a boost to Queensland tourism as Australia is one of the most popular holiday destinations for both Singapore and UAE nationals.” About Etihad Airways
