Changi’s Shopping Secrets

Uncover Changi's shopping secrets and be a local in your second home.

Changi Airport is home to passengers of all nationalities and ages. So we needed to find a singer that could represent our international appeal, as well as express the childlike joy of being at home. A task made more difficult by the fact that the child’s voice needed to be powerful and clear. We finally found the perfect blend in a boy soprano from Australia. To add texture and a soul-stirring quality to the soundtrack, we worked with a world-class choir from Hungary.

Ben Sweeney

Ben is the older of two sons, born into a musical family in 2006. He started violin lessons with Japanese teacher Yasuki Nakamura before his third birthday. He took up piano lessons at the age of 6, and began singing in choirs when he was 8.

Ben joined the Sydney Children’s Choir Junior Performing Choir in 2016. He has sung on the Sydney Opera House stage with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. In 2016, Ben  also recorded with the Sydney Children’s Choir and the celebrated acapella group “The Idea of North”.

About the Choir School

Artistic director Ferenc Sapszon, founded Kodaly Zoltan Magyar Korusiskola, Hungary’s first choir school in 1988.

Musical education plays a key part of Kodaly’s educational institution. The 12-year course includes elementary and high school that is combined with a music course.

The school’s choirs have won 4 Olympic titles at the Choir Olympics. The school and Ferenc Sapszon have also received the Hungarian Heritage Prize.
