Exhibited within glass enclosures, the stoneware sculptures depict cuisine and traditional performing arts in the region through unique shapes, colours and surface decorations. The pieces entitled ‘Wayang Kulit’ feature intricate motifs of Indonesian icons and resemble an abstract expressionist pair of puppets. The series called “Tapestry” showcases meticulous handcrafted surfaces inspired by ethnic heritage. “Landscape” features two giant pots with red, white and blue markings which mimic the vertical and horizontal planes of a landscape when seen from afar. Lastly, a tall cylindrical structure and its rounder counterpart are crafted with densely layered epidermal veneer that remind you of “Kueh Lapis”, a traditional layered cake.
