The Great Migration to Changi East

Relocating our Changi East colleagues

On 29 September, our Changi East colleagues relocated to their new project office nearer to Changi East’s work site, along Tanah Merah Coast Road. Having grown rapidly alongside the development of the Changi East project, the team now comprises more than 200 staff. Housing everyone together in the new three-storey project office not only reduces the time needed to travel between the work site and corporate office, it also allows for improved collaboration and efficiency within the team.

The new office, with an area of about 14,000 sqm, or about 3.5 football fields, provides a warm home for the Changi East family while working on site. Besides Changi East staff, space is made available for contractors and consultants for the next 10 years or so. Hot desking options have also been specially set aside for staff from corporate functions supporting the Changi East family. To make it easier to get to the project office, shuttle bus services to and from Terminal 2, as well as Tanah Merah MRT station are available.

In a bid to excite staff before the actual shift into the new office space, a competition was created to name all the meeting rooms, and around 100 entries were received. Winning names such as ‘teamwork’ and ‘create’ were eventually picked for the meeting rooms.

Besides meeting rooms, cosy discussion areas are also available for small group discussions.

In addition to cosy workspaces, the project office has also taken staff welfare in full consideration. Besides being similar in look and feel to the current corporate office in Terminal 2, the pantries are well-equipped with coffee machines, fridges and microwave ovens, with vending machines to be added soon. What’s more, the office space also incorporated fashionably designed discussion areas, a staff lounge equipped with TV and configurable furniture, a gym, as well as a halal certified cafĂ© offering delectable local and western dishes.
