TRANSITING THROUGH CHANGI AIRPORT

Travellers who transit through Changi Airport can expect an experience that has been designed to protect the health and safety of passengers and workers, while remaining convenient and comfortable.   

Passengers interested in connecting through Changi Airport to reach their final destination should consult their airline on options available. Under current government regulations, when transiting at Changi Airport on arrival and departing flights operated by different airlines, tickets for both flights must be made on the same booking itinerary. Furthermore, the passenger’s checked-in luggage at the origin airport must be tagged-through to the final destination. THE TRANSIT PROCESS

Applicable to - Transiting travellers from Categories I, II and III countries/regions (except for Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom). Covid-19 test requirement - All transit travellers must take a COVID-19 test within 2 days before departure for Singapore (i.e. if the pre-departure test is taken on 1 Nov 2021, it will be valid for departures up to 3 Nov 2021, 2359 hours). Travellers without a valid negative COVID-19 test will not be allowed to board their connecting flight out of Singapore. Rest, Shop and Dine in Transit

While in transit – Upon arrival at Changi Airport, travellers can rest, dine and shop within the departure transit area while waiting for your next flight. For a complete list of shopping and dining options, you may refer to our shopping and dining directory.

Duty and tax-free products can also be purchased via Changi Airport’s e-commerce website iShopChangi for passengers with more than 12 hours before their departing flight. You can shop at  and collect your purchases at the designated iShopChangi collection points.

Currency exchange – There are currency exchange counters available for currency exchange services. Please refer to Changi Airport’s website map or iChangi for more information on their locations. 

Transit hotels - For those on a long layover, you can book a stay at the transit hotel, located at Terminal 1, near boarding gate D41 or Terminal 3, near boarding gates B1-4. Lounges - You can choose to relax in comfort at these lounges:  

  • Ambassador Transit Lounge at Terminal 3, Level 3 near Gate B1-4.
  • marhaba Lounge at Terminal 1, Level 3 near Central Immigration. 
  • Plaza Premium Lounge at Terminal 1, Level 3 near Gate C1. Charges and more details can be found here
  • SATS lounge at Terminal 1, Level 3 and Terminal 3, Level 3 near Central Immigration. 
  • Singapore Airlines lounge at Terminal 3, Level 3 near Central Immigration. Opening hours: 0500H-0230H.

Boarding

You can make your way to your departure gate from 60 mins before your flight departure time. Please present your boarding passes to staff for verification at the access control point.

Resting facilities - Upon arriving at Changi Airport, you will be met by our airport staff and be guided to a Transit Holding Area (THA) in the terminal your next flight will be departing from. 

At the THA, you can enjoy comfortable seating while waiting for your next flight.

Other amenities at the THA include a snooze area, a nursing station, charging stations and free wi-fi.

Transit hotel - For those on a long layover, you can also book a stay at the transit hotel, located at Terminal 1, near boarding gate D41 or Terminal 3, near boarding gates B1-4. Passengers will be escorted straight to the hotels and will not be permitted to shop and dine outside of the hotel. You are strongly encouraged to make an advanced booking. Food options - You will be able to purchase light meals, snacks and drinks from vending machines or on-site kiosks. You can also use an app for food delivery services, including halal options, from selected airport F&B outlets.

Shopping options - You will also be able to make tax-free purchases using our shopping concierge service. Products offered include those sold by Shilla Cosmetics and Perfumes, and Gift by Changi Airport. Once your items are ready, they will be delivered to the THA for your collection.

Duty and tax-free products are also available to passengers in the THA with more than 12 hours before their departing flight. You can shop at Changi Airport’s e-commerce website iShopChangi and have your purchases delivered to the THA.

Boarding - When it’s time for your departure flight, our staff will guide you from the THA to the gate for security screening and boarding.

ENSURING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR PASSENGERS AND STAFF

 

The safety of our passengers is a top priority at Changi Airport. While transiting through Changi, we have implemented safety measures at every stage of the journey to protect both passengers and airport staff.

All passengers must wear a face mask and adhere to safe distancing markers. 

Carpets are vacuumed daily by autonomous cleaning robots equipped with a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA)  filter that catches fine particles, including dust and pollen, while vacuuming. In addition, we have deployed autonomous cleaning robots that are equipped with a misting machine that disinfects the carpets after cleaning.

Seats are vacuumed and wiped regularly with disinfectant. Frequently-touched surfaces such as charging stations, tables and playgrounds have been sprayed with a long-lasting anti-microbial disinfectant coating that reduces the risk of virus transmission, in addition to frequent cleaning.

Many contactless hand sanitisers are available for use.

Restrooms are cleaned and disinfected frequently and are equipped with automatic sensor-activated water taps. Entering and exiting a restroom is also a contactless process.
