What we do
Creating unexpected moments of joy
Creating that sparkle in your eyes when you find we have just what you are looking for. That is one of the reasons why we are where the world shops. With over 70,000 square metres of retail space, Changi Airport is one of Singapore's largest shopping and dining facility.
The Commercial team is responsible for developing a myriad of exciting shopping and dining options and running shopping promotions in the airport to wow and delight our customers. In retail planning and development, managing of shops, restaurants and service concessions, leasing of land, shops and restaurants, office and warehouse space, pricing of airport charges, franchise fees, and developing our commercial strategy; we play an important role in maximising the revenue streams to Changi Airport Group.
Meet our people
What it's like to work in Commercial?
From building business relations and effective tenant-management skills to overseeing events and publicity at the "Landside" (areas that are open to the general public), there is never a dull moment in Commercial. My greatest achievement to date is witnessing the completion of the "T1 Upgrading" and "T3 Revamp", as these fulfilled my dream of having more renowned shopping and dining options at the "Landside". Above all, in helping to shape the Changi landscape, what delights me the most is to be able to grow together with an awesome team.
Changi Airport is not only a world-class transport hub. With close to 300 outlets within the transit area, it is also a shopping and dining haven for travelers to indulge in. Therefore, understanding our passengers is key and planning the right trade and brand mix is certainly a challenge. As part of the T4 team, a day at work involves networking with potential tenants and marketing the leasing opportunities at T4. Working on a new terminal is definitely a rare opportunity and an exciting journey and knowing that I can play a part to shape the commercial environment at Changi is certainly a key motivation!
From overseeing land leases and rentable premises such as airline offices, airport lounges and warehouses, our team plays an important role to support the various airport stakeholders in their daily operations.
In our daily work, we are the “bridge” between CAG and our tenants, engaging the latter on leasing/operational matters and also internal colleagues to coordinate and learn more about the other functionalities in the airport to fulfil our leasing duties. Though it can be a challenge at times to support both internal and external stakeholders, it is still rewarding to know that these efforts (regardless of the magnitude) will contribute in upholding Changi Airport’s reputation as one of the top airports.
Our work at Pricing & Commercial Strategy varies over a broad spectrum - from providing insights into our commercial businesses to implementing pricing strategies at the airport. We equip our internal stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to facilitate short and long term business planning. Most importantly, we ensure that prices remain competitive and pertinent to Changi Airport’s role as an international air hub.
Outside of my core work and division, CAG had also provided me the opportunities to pursue ideas that I think will value add to the organization. The leadership and culture here generally allow passionate and innovative individuals to flourish which I feel is important for personal development especially in the early years of your career.
