Sunflower

Scientific name: Helianthus annuus

Helianthus annus, commonly known as Sunflower because of its flower head that looks like the sun. It also has the tendency to reposition itself to face the sun.

All Sunflowers displayed in Changi Airport are produced in CAG’s nursery. Every month, the nursery produces at least 2000 Sunflowers. They will take up to 90 days to flower, depending on the weather conditions and species. The Sunflowers are grown up to a height of 1.5 metres with flower head as wide as 15cm.

In T2’s Sunflower garden, the sea of Sunflowers and the view of airside provide a beautiful backdrop for a memorable photograph.
