Bigger and Better than Before - iShopChangi

March 2018

With the rage for online shopping nowadays, e-commerce platforms are an increasingly important tool to enable retailers to reach out to a wider target audience. Realising that the online shopping trend is here to stay, Changi Airport has also been steadily developing its online platform, iShopChangi. This effort has been recognised by The Moodie Davitt Report, which saw iShopChangi winning the Best Website – Retail Customer Facing award at The Moodies – the airport and travel retail digital media awards 2018.

Since its inception in 2013, iShopChangi has grown from strength to strength, as it strives to cater to online-savvy passengers even before they step foot in the airport. From the comfort of their homes, travellers can leisurely scroll through the website’s expanding selection of 14,000 products from 500 brands, stretching across categories which include beauty, fashion, alcohol and electronics – all at tax and duty-free prices.

How does iShopChangi work?

Passengers can take their time and browse on iShopChangi from 30 days prior to their departure date, up to 18 hours before their flight. They can shop from stores across all four terminals, and opt to collect their purchases from the terminal they are departing from, or from the baggage claim hall upon arrival – or have them conveniently delivered to locations within Singapore.

Shopping on iShopChangi comes with its own set of exclusive perks for travellers too. The digital portal has launched some Changi First products even before they were introduced at the airport itself and the rest of Singapore, such as premium spirit Hennessy X.X.O Cognac, luxury Korean beauty brand Hera, Tiffany & Co fragrances and SKII Magnetic RNA Cream Kit. Meanwhile, Changi fans and travellers visiting Singapore can bring home a piece of Changi Airport with exclusive Changi merchandise such as collar pins in the shape of the airport’s iconic control tower.

To ensure a seamless payment process for the omni-channel shopper, more secure payment modes have been added through the years, from the likes of American Express to Alipay. Loyal shoppers can also accumulate Changi Rewards points for instant dollar redemptions on their next purchase.

So far, travellers have been embracing iShopChangi with open arms. Sales from the platform rose 60% year-on-year between 2016 and 2017.

For the team steering iShopChangi, the award is the icing on the cake. “We are deeply honoured that iShopChangi has been recognised on a global level. It was a consolidated effort between us and the various support teams,” said Ms Nicole Foo, General Manager of Online Retail, Airside Concessions Division, Changi Airport Group.

“In this digital age, we believe that it’s crucial to provide our passengers the additional convenience, comfort and value of shopping online. iShopChangi complements the offerings at the airport such that passengers can enjoy an integrated offline and online shopping experience. Our retailers too have the opportunity to engage and reach out to a bigger pool of customers,” she added.

Come June 2018,shoppers can look forward to an enhanced experience on iShopChangi. The portal will sport a revamped look with new and improved features, including a showcase of customised picks and a section sharing what shoppers are posting about iShopChangi on their Instagram pages.
