Engineering & Development
Maintaining a highly efficient airport is not easy. The baggage handling system that Changi Airport maintains is a highly complex system that is an adventure to tell on its own.
Want the inside scoop? Follow local celebrity, Michelle Chia, as she brings you on an insider tour of Changi's baggage handling systems.
A meticulous adherence to technicalities is something we treat seriously and take pride in. With over 4km of runways and 16 skytrains, bringing passengers across each of our three terminals seamlessly is no easy feat. We constantly keep a close watch to ensure that our systems are running smooth every minute of the day.
One of the most crucial parts of a flight landing is the ability to visually identify the runway environment, and align the aircraft with the runway upon arrival at a prescribed point on an approach. We work with the best, to employ the newest technologies and excellent hardware to ensure the safety of the passengers.
Passenger loading bridges
Ever grateful how there are sheltered walkways? Passenger Loading Bridges ensure you have all-weather dry access to your flights, and enhances the safety of our operations in an airport.
Here at Changi, we are one of the world's first in having double loading bridges for larger aircraft, allowing you a faster boarding time and more time to enjoy the airport facilities.
To optimise Changi Airport’s long-term growth potential and to meet the growing needs of airlines and passengers, visionary masterplanning is needed to ensure we provide more than adequate, high quality airport infrastructure for the sustained development of Changi as a world-class air hub and a destination of choice.
Passenger terminal design
Here at Changi Airport, passenger terminal design comes with your enjoyable experience at the top of our minds. The design of our terminals are built to be adaptable and future forward.
While we strive to create a vibrant and cosmopolitan air hub, Changi will still feel like home for travellers, locals and the airport community alike.
We believe in ensuring that the Changi experience will always be an enjoyable and positively surprising one. This is why capacity planning is important to us, to ensure that we will always have adequate capacity to meet all demands in the future.
We are in the process of constructing future terminals ahead of demand, with Terminal 4 & 5 underway and ready for completion in 2017 and the end-2020s respectively. Our existing terminals are also constantly evaluated to ensure that there is sufficient space for growth.
