Symbolising strength, confidence, perseverance, ambition and reliability, this sculpture is called “Success”, and together with “Achievement” (located at Terminal 1's D gates), form the pair collectively known as “The Spirit of Man”.
“The Spirit of Man” was commissioned by Changi Airport to enhance the passenger experience, and “Success” was first installed on the eastern side of Terminal 1’s Departure Hall in 1984.
This artwork was created by Singaporean sculptor Ng Eng Teng, (1934 – 2001), fondly remembered as the “Grandfather of Singapore Sculpture”.
