Landed at Changi Airport and wondering how to get to your next stop? Whether you are heading into the city, to a hotel or to a residential address, getting around Singapore from Changi is straightforward, with public and private transport options available across the terminals.

This guide walks you through the main transfer options from Changi Airport, so you can match your budget, luggage, arrival time and travel plans to the ride that suits you best.

What to consider before leaving the airport

A good transfer choice starts with an honest look at your own situation. There are more options than most travellers realise, each with its own trade-offs around cost, speed, comfort and convenience. The right choice depends on where you are headed, how many people are travelling with you, what time you arrive and how much flexibility you want.

Where you are headed

Central areas such as Marina Bay, Orchard Road and Chinatown are easy to reach from Changi Airport, whether you are taking public transport, a taxi, ride-hailing car or shuttle. Changi Airport is also connected to Singapore’s MRT network via Changi Airport Station at Terminals 2 and 3, with a transfer at Tanah Merah or Expo to continue towards the city.

If you are heading to a hotel in the central area, the MRT can be a convenient and affordable option, especially if you are travelling light. For private residences, less central addresses, or travellers with several bags, a point-to-point service such as a taxi, private transfer or ride-hailing car may be more practical.

How many people, and how much luggage

Among private transport options, a standard taxi or ride-hailing car is usually enough for solo travellers. If you're travelling with family or friends, count your bags before you count your passengers. Four people may fit comfortably in a standard taxi, but several large suitcases or a stroller can quickly make the ride feel cramped. In that case, a seven-seater cab or minibus may be a more practical option.

When you are arriving

Timing matters more than most people expect. Public transport operates on fixed schedules, with fewer services running between midnight and dawn. Arriving after midnight means taxis and private cars apply late-night surcharges too. If you have a tight schedule, whether for a business meeting or simply to get tired children to bed, a direct transfer with a guaranteed pickup will save you the stress of waiting or making connections.

How much you want to spend

There is an option for almost every budget. If keeping costs low is your priority, public transport and shared shuttles are your best bet. Taxis offer a balance between convenience and price, while private transfers cost more but provide a fixed fare and direct service. For families and groups, booking a larger vehicle can sometimes be more economical than taking multiple taxis.

How much comfort and convenience you need

If you're looking to save money and don't mind a slightly longer journey, a shared shuttle can be a good option, even if it means waiting for other passengers or making a few hotel stops. If you'd rather get to your destination as quickly as possible, a taxi or private transfer offers a direct ride. Families travelling with young children may also want the extra space and the option to request a child seat.

What transport options are available at Changi Airport

Changi Airport is well-connected to the rest of Singapore, and you will find transport options to suit most budgets and timelines. Here is a look at what is available and how each one works.

Public trains and buses

The MRT is the most affordable way into the city. Changi Airport MRT Station serves Terminals 2 and 3, with trains running from 5:31 AM on weekdays and Saturdays, and the last departure at 12:06 AM daily. From there, you transfer at Tanah Merah or Expo stations to continue towards the city centre. Payment is with contactless bank cards, mobile wallets, or store-valued EZ-Link cards.

If you are travelling from Terminal 1, 2, or 3, public buses 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110, and 858 are available. Buses 24, 34, 36, and 110 also serve Terminal 4. You can use a contactless bank card, mobile wallet, stored-value EZ-Link card, or exact cash.

Hotel shuttles and private transfers

Some hotels provide complimentary shuttle services for guests, though seats are limited and require advance reservation. Shared hotel shuttles generally depart every 15 to 30 minutes depending on demand, making them a reasonable middle-ground option for travellers heading to accommodation along popular routes.

For a fixed-price, point-to-point service, the Ground Transport Concierge at Changi offers transfers to any Singapore address. The Ground Transport Concierge operates 24 hours a day across all terminals. You will find it at the Arrival Pick-up Basement in Terminal 1, Arrival Hall Level 1 Door 6 in Terminal 2, and at Arrival Hall Level 1 next to the information counters in Terminals 3 and 4. Do note that vehicle availability during peak hours is not guaranteed, so if you are arriving at a busy time, pre-booking offers more certainty.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps

Taxis are readily available at the arrival hall taxi stands across all terminals, making them one of the easiest point-to-point options from Changi Airport. Fares are metered and airport surcharges apply, with rides to the city generally taking about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic and destination.

Ride-hailing apps such as Grab, Gojek, Zig and Tada are also available in Singapore, with designated pick-up points at the terminals. This can be a convenient option if you prefer to book your ride on your phone and see the estimated fare before confirming.

Car rentals

If you are planning to drive yourself, several rental companies operate at Changi. AVIS is available at Terminals 2 and 3, SIXT at Terminals 1 and 2, myCarriage at Terminal 3, and lylo at Terminal 4. Operating hours differ by provider, so it is worth checking in advance if you have an early arrival or late-night flight.

Getting your transfer right

There is no single best way to get from Changi Airport to your destination. The right transfer depends on a mix of factors: where you are going, how many people are travelling with you, when you land and how much you want to spend. A little thought before you arrive goes a long way.

Whatever your situation, sorting out your transfer before you land means one less thing to figure out after a long flight. Check the options, match them to your needs, and you will be on your way to your Singapore destination without any unnecessary stress at arrivals.
