The Arrival Garden welcomes visitors to Changi Airport with a splash of colour and life. Filled with lush, natural greenery, it provides a unique outdoor experience, while being in the comfort of an indoor environment. Classic design textures of an outdoor garden are incorporated in the Arrival Garden, such as timber decking and water features.
The larger-than-life Dragonfly topiary gives the Arrival Garden its character and theme. The specially curated flora collection also reflects a dragonfly habitat, while the garden's water features produce ripples and patterns on the water surface, as though dragonflies are dancing upon them.
The garden also provides a prelude to Jewel, as visitors can catch a glimpse of the HSBC Rain Vortex from the garden. Another striking feature of this garden are the 12-15m tall palms, which make the Arrival Garden an easy subject for photography.
The Washingtonia Robusta is a palm tree native to Mexico, where conditions are dry for most of the year. It's adaptable, hardy and can survive in dry soil or sand. Because of this characteristic, the palm tree’s species is named ‘robusta’ which means robust or vigorous in Latin. The genus ‘Washingtonia’ is named after the first president of the United States, George Washington (1732–1799).
